Data Center Energy Practitioner (DCEP) Certificate Program

We are pleased to announce Tim Hirschenhofer, our east coast Data Center iOS Specialist, successfully completed the DOE Data Center Energy Practitioner Certification program.

About the DCEP Program
The DOE “Save Energy Now” program has partnered with the industry in the development of a process leading to practitioners qualified to evaluate the energy status and efficiency opportunities in data centers. The key objective of the Data Center Energy Practitioner (DCEP) Program is to accelerate energy savings in the dynamic and energy-intensive marketplace of data centers.

The DOE has a goal to have at least 200 practitioners by 2011. Significant knowledge, training, and skills are required to perform accurate energy assessments in data centers. DCEPs are:

• Qualified to identify and evaluate data center energy efficiency opportunities
• Proficient in the use of DOE's DC Pro software tool suite
• Address energy opportunities in electrical systems, air management, HVAC, IT equipment, and on-site generation
• Trained on conducting data center assessments
• Required to pass an exam and be requalified every 2 to 3 years.

The benefits of using the Practitioners include consistency of qualifications and approach as well as a high level of repeatability and credibility of recommendations.
