NER Announces Channel Deal With Custom Mechanical Solutions

NER offers CMS’s Innovative Cooling Solutions Nationwide Through Network of Resellers.

NER has entered into an agreement with Custom Mechanical Systems (CMS). CMS is a leading provider of custom cooling/HVAC solutions for mission-critical facilities, including data centers, laboratories, cleanrooms and hospitals. Under the agreement, announced today at AFCOM’s Data Center World Conference in Nashville, TN, NER Data Products will distribute CMS’ innovative data center cooling systems to select resellers across the country.

“We have enjoyed tremendous success in improving airflow distribution,” said Greg Stover, Senior Vice President at NER. “By coupling our innovative solutions with these new High Efficiency Mechanical Cooling Solutions from CMS, we are now able to optimize Data Center Cooling efficiency to previously unseen levels. “

Cooling can consume half of the total energy used by a data center, and legacy cooling systems and “CRAC” units are incredibly inefficient and outdated; by using state-of-the-art modeling and design, CMS’ latest airflow technology offers the ability to reduce energy by 35-50% and lower maintenance and costs.

“This agreement will make CMS products previously marketed primarily throughout Silicon Valley and California available on a much broader basis, allowing data centers nationwide access to these advanced energy-saving products which have seen wide acceptance by California-based users,” said Dan Hyman, Founder and Principal at CMS. “Our products—deployed by leading worldwide data centers inside Brocade and Equinox—have the ability to save large amounts of energy and money, and we are confident in NER and their reseller partners’ ability to carry this message to a broad group of data center owners and operators.”

We recognize your need to implement improvements and show ROI, which is why NER offers a complete line of Data Center products and services.

Data Center Cooling Got You Hot?

Proper airflow distribution and delivery is the key to providing optimal cooling and efficiency to today’s increasingly higher density server racks.

HotSpotr™ fan assisted floor tiles eliminate hot spots caused by today’s High Density loads. HotSpotr mechanically delivers more air (up to 1200 cfm) to the face of your hottest racks.

Most Data Centers cool their entire room to the hottest racks, so when you eliminate the hot spots, you can reduce your overall cooling requirement, raise supply air temperatures and return set-points, improve efficiency, and dramatically lower cooling costs.

Key Feature Include:
- Easy installation and integration without interruptions. Installs in the place of (can ship attached to new tile) or be installed under an existing perfed tile.
- Safely air-cools and supports 10-12kW racks
- Delivers up to 1200 CFM vs. 25% tile average of 300cfm, and 56% tile average of 600 cfm
- Replaces and/or mounts directly to popular grates (adaptors available for all 24” and 600mm floor and tile types)
- Thermostatically controlled to dynamically maintain desired temperatures
- Scalable - so you can start by trying just one HotSpotr to cool your hottest rack
- Can be networked for more robust “Demand Based Intelligent Cooling” Solution with Monitoring Service

HotSpotr enables you to mechanically overcome hot spots by delivering more cooling only where it’s needed and only when it’s needed. The result is more efficient cooling from your existing cooling investment.

Data Center Infrastructure cooling issues that can be quickly solved with HotSpotr include underfloor obstructions, shallow raised floor height, high density racks, poor CRAC placement, poor rack placement, and poor room layout. In short, the HotSpotr is a quick and effective solution to solve Data Center airflow and cooling problems that cannot be solved by today’s passive cooling methods and design methods. Glassboro NJ, December 22, 2009 – NER Data Products, Inc. (NER) announces the sale of the NER Imaging Supplies division and its wholly owned printer parts subsidiary Image1 to Clover Technologies Group Inc. (Clover). The agreement will transfer all imaging activities including compatible laser toner, inkjet, narrow and wide impact ribbon production, and printer parts to Clover.

Clover will assume responsibility for the NER Denver, Image1 Plano, and NER Glassboro supplies operations that support these business units. Customer and vendor relationships will be assumed by Clover and business will continue at all of these locations. In addition, NER is pleased to announce that over 80% of the NER employees at these locations will become employees of Clover as of the first of the year.

“The decision to sell off business units is not taken without great consideration,” said Stephen Oatway, President of NER Data Products Inc. “Approximately seven years ago, we began the process of strategically transitioning the company from offering commodity products to offering value-added solutions. As a result of our efforts, we have become a leader in both Managed Print Services and Data Center Infrastructure Solutions. In reviewing the direction of the company it was determined that a concentrated focus on these divisions was in the best interest of the company, shareholders, and customers moving forward. This strategic move allows us to focus resources on those business units that are poised for the greatest growth in the future.”

The sale will be finalized December 31, 2009 and terms of the transaction are not disclosed. The newly reorganized NER will be strongly positioned to continue providing industry-leading Managed Print Services and Data Center Infrastructure Solutions to their channel partners and their customers.
